New Year’s Eve is probably the biggest celebration of the entire year. That’s why the following day (New Year’s Day) is often referred to as National Hangover Day. This year, we want to provide you with a guide that helps you treat your hangover. Although there’s no way to completely cure a hangover, there are plenty of ways to relieve the nasty symptoms.
How to Cure Your Hangover
While there’s no definitive way to get rid of hangovers, there are things you can do to help prevent and relieve them.
Drink Plenty of Fluids:
Water is your friend. Staying hydrated is the best way to prevent and relieve a hangover. A hangover is the result of dehydration. If you’re going out and plan on having a few adult beverages, it’s a good idea to drink lots of water beforehand. Make sure you’re drinking water in between alcoholic drinks too. If it’s too late and you’re currently reading this hungover, you’re not completely screwed. Water and drinks that help replenish electrolytes (Gatorade, Powerade, etc.) can be a real lifesaver!
Get Some Carbs in Your System:
Many people forget to eat before a night of drinking and it can cost you. If you drink on an empty stomach, you’re bound to wake up with a hangover. It’s also important to consume carbs if you’re currently suffering from a hangover. Alcohol can lower your blood sugar levels, and in order to feel better we need to get some food in your system.
Consume Vitamin C and Vitamin D:
A nice, hearty breakfast after a night of drinking can definitely kickstart your hangover recovery, especially if the food includes vitamins C and D. Eggs are a great source of vitamin D, but if your stomach is too weak for that, try eating some cereal. Orange juice is high in vitamin C and is the perfect pairing with any breakfast! Not craving breakfast? Meals like pizza or ramen noodles work too. The more carbs, the better! If your stomach isn’t quite ready for food, try taking some activated charcoal and drinking some tea to settle it down.
Things to Do When You’re Hungover
A hangover can make you feel lazy, tired, and groggy. But that doesn’t mean it has to ruin your day. Here’s a list of things to do when you’re hungover!
