Things you’ll need:
- Tie-dye kit
- Rubber bands
- Gloves
- Water
- A cylinder-shaped tube
- Plastic bags or plastic wrap
- A creative vision
Spiral
Lay t shirt on flat surface
Pinch the t shirt from the center and spin it into a spiral shape
Bind t shirt together with rubber bands
Apply dye to both sides of the t shirt
Wrap the t shirt in a plastic bag or plastic wrap and let it sit for 6-8 hours. Rinse the shirt until the water runs clean and wash on cool with minimal detergent. Dry on low heat.
Shibori
Wrap the fabric around a tube-shaped object
Take both ends of the shirt and scrunch the tee together. Bind with rubber bands
Apply dye
Wrap in a plastic bag or plastic wrap and let it sit for 6-8 hours. Rinse until water runs clear and wash on cool with minimal detergent. Dry on low heat.
Crumple
Lay shirt on flat surface
Scrunch fabric together tightly
Apply dye to both sides of the shirt.
Wrap in a plastic blag or plastic wrap and let it sit for 6-8 hours. Rinse until water runs clear and wash on cool with minimal detergent. Dry on low heat.
Stripes
Lay t shirt on flat surface
Fold fabric like an accordion
Bind together into sections with rubber bands
Apply dye to each section
Wrap in a plastic bag or plastic wrap and let sit for 6-8 hours. Rinse until water runs clear and wash in cool water with minimal detergent. Dry on low heat.
Spider
Follow the steps of the Spiral design above. For this one, we started the spiral on the side of the shirt.
Bind together with rubber bands
Apply dye to both sides and then cover one side in black dye
Wrap in a plastic bag or plastic wrap and let sit for 6-8 hours. Rinse until water runs clear and wash on cool with minimal detergent. Dry on low heat.
